The Complete Guide to Water Slide Parties in Orange County

Everything you need to plan a water slide party in OC — which slide to pick, setup requirements, what guests need to bring, and how to make it the best summer party your kids have ever had.

Water slide parties are the peak Orange County summer experience. Nothing else comes close to the energy of 15 kids racing down a dual-lane water slide in a backyard on a Saturday afternoon. If you're planning one for the first time, this guide covers everything — which slide to pick, what your yard needs, what to tell guests, and how to run the day.

Choosing the Right Water Slide

We have three water slides and two combo units that run wet. Here's how to choose:

For younger kids (ages 5-10) or mixed-age parties The Dolphin Dive Combo ($320/day) is the sweet spot. It combines a bounce area with a dual-lane water slide and splash pool. Younger kids can bounce while the older ones slide. It's 13 feet tall — exciting but not intimidating for first-timers.

For the classic water slide experience (ages 6-14) The 18' Jungle Lagoon or 18' Tiki Hurricane ($450/day each). Both are 18 feet tall with dual lanes for side-by-side racing and inflated pool landings. The Jungle Lagoon has a tropical lagoon theme in blues and greens. The Tiki Hurricane has a bright tropical storm look with a rainbow arch. Both fit the same footprint and deliver the same experience — pick whichever matches your party vibe.

For maximum thrill (ages 8+, teens, adults) The 22' Splashzilla ($499/day). This is the tallest slide in our fleet — 22 feet of dual-lane, face-first water slide action. It's the one that makes adults line up alongside the kids. If your party includes teens or you want the "wow" factor, this is it.

What Your Yard Needs

Space All of our water slides need about 36' long x 15' wide of flat space. That's roughly the size of a standard two-car driveway and a half. The combo units need 34' x 18'. Measure before you book — we'll confirm at delivery, but it helps to know you're in range.

Water A standard garden hose connection. That's it. The hose runs water down the slide surface during the entire rental. Your water bill for 8 hours of continuous hose use is about $5-10 — barely noticeable.

Power A standard 110V outdoor electrical outlet within 50 feet. The blower runs continuously to keep the slide inflated. We bring heavy-duty extension cords if needed. No power? We rent generators for park setups.

Surface Grass is ideal. The inflated pool at the bottom sits directly on the surface and grass provides natural cushioning. We anchor with stakes on grass. For concrete or hard surfaces, we use sandbag anchors instead.

What to Tell Guests

Send this in your party invite or text thread:

It's a WATER SLIDE PARTY! 💦 - Wear your swimsuit (or bring one to change into) - Bring a towel - Bring sunscreen - Water shoes optional but recommended - We'll have dry areas too — come in regular clothes and change when you're ready

Pro tip: have a designated "dry zone" with chairs and shade for parents and kids who want a break. Not everyone wants to be wet for three hours straight.

Running the Day

Before guests arrive - We deliver and set up 1-2 hours before your party start time - Set out towels, sunscreen station, and a water bottle area near the slide - Put a "changing area" sign on a bathroom or tent — guests will need somewhere to swap into swimsuits - Fill a cooler with popsicles, ice pops, or frozen fruit bars — the best post-slide snack

The first 30 minutes Kids will go straight to the slide. Let them. Don't try to organize activities right away. The slide IS the activity.

Mid-party After an hour of sliding, kids will want a break. This is when you do food, cake, and presents. Burgers, hot dogs, pizza — anything easy and finger-food works. Don't do a formal sit-down meal; half the kids will still be dripping wet.

Last hour Back on the slide. The second session is always more relaxed — kids find their rhythm, create their own games (racing, trains, freestyle), and you get to sit down.

Food and Drinks

Keep it simple and summer-friendly:

  • Pizza or burgers — order or grill. Don't overcomplicate it.
  • Fruit — watermelon, grapes, strawberries. Cut in advance.
  • Popsicles — the MVP of water slide parties. Buy 3x more than you think you need.
  • Water and juice boxes — hydration is real when kids are running, climbing, and sliding in the sun
  • Skip the chips — wet hands + chip bowl = soggy mess

For an upgrade, add a snow cone machine ($110/day). Kids make their own flavors and it fits the water party theme perfectly.

Safety Basics

  • One slider at a time per lane. Wait for the previous kid to clear the pool before the next one goes.
  • Feet first, sitting position. No headfirst, no standing, no backwards.
  • Age groups matter. If you have toddlers and 12-year-olds at the same party, rotate them. Don't mix ages on the slide at the same time.
  • Adult supervision always. Someone should be at the top and someone at the bottom of the slide at all times.
  • Sunscreen. Apply before the party starts and reapply after an hour. Wet skin burns faster.

We do a full safety walkthrough with you at setup and review all the rules.

Season and Weather

Water slide season in Orange County runs April through September, sometimes into October. The sweet spot is May through August when temperatures are consistently above 80°F.

What about cooler days? If it's 70-75°F, the slide still works — but set up the hose water early so it warms on the surface. Below 70°F, most kids won't want to be wet for long. Our combo units work wet OR dry — so if the weather is iffy, you can skip the water and still have a bounce house + slide setup.

Park Setups

No backyard? Our water slides deliver to OC parks. You'll need: - A park reservation with an area that allows inflatables (see our park permit guide) - Access to a water spigot (most park picnic areas have one) - Access to power, or rent our generator

Popular parks for water slide parties: Irvine Regional Park, Bill Barber Memorial Park, Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley, and Tri-City Park in Placentia.
